Dr. Daishen (Kevin) Luo got his bachelor's degree in Shanghai, China, and his master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University. His MS research was about ultrasonic stimulation to ripen the rat cervix and the design of the ultrasound system. Kevin joined Dr. Khismatullin's laboratory at Tulane University as a PhD candidate in 2013. He made seminal contributions to acoustic tweezing technology. He built the first laboratory prototype of the acoustic tweezing device and tested it on different biological samples, including whole blood and blood plasma. Kevin is a co-inventor of both the quasi-static acoustic tweezing thromboelastometry and integrated quasi-static acoustic tweezing thromboelastometry techniques. His PhD research also included focused ultrasound (FUS) experiments, such as tumor ablation by FUS and ethanol. He successfully defended his PhD dissertation in April 2019. He was the first CEO of Levisonics and now works as a senior systems engineer at BD.
