Dr. Hakm Y. Murad

Dr. Hakm Murad is from the greater New Orleans area. He joined Dr. Khismatullin's laboratory at Tulane University in 2014 as a Biomedical Engineering junior, and he did undergraduate, M.S., and PhD research in the same laboratory. His PhD research work focused on anti-cancer effects of focused ultrasound (FUS), including mechanochemical disruption of human thyroid, liver, and prostate cancer cells by FUS + ethanol or FUS + NF-\(\kappa\)B inhibitor; and re-sensitization of ER+ breast cancer cells to Tamoxifen by FUS. This research combined both in vitro studies and in vivo tumor xenograft mouse models.  Hakm successfully defended his PhD dissertation in August 2018.
