When the immune system falters, the consequences can echo throughout the body. I study how cytokines, small signaling proteins that coordinate immune responses, become dysregulated during infection and trigger shifts in blood clotting. My current research uses whole blood models and multiplex assays to study these dynamics in COVID-19, focusing on the tipping points where immune coordination breaks down and how those moments shape later physiological outcomes.
When I’m not in the lab, I’m swing dancing to live jazz bands, enthusiastically (but rather unsuccessfully) chasing soccer balls around the field, or exploring new neighborhoods throughout the city. Originally from Palo Alto, California, I grew up backpacking, kayaking, and rock climbing—activities that continue to fuel my love for the outdoors.
