Dr. Heng (Vivien) Yu
Dr. Heng (Vivien) Yu is from Shanghai, China, and earned her MS in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University. In 2014, she joined Dr. Khismatullin's laboratory at Tulane University as a PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering. Her doctoral research focused on the following three areas: 1) in vitro analysis of monocyte-endothelial adhesion and endothelial activation in the presence of exosomes isolated from smooth muscle cells of diabetic patients; 2) investigation of macrophage polarization and mast cell migration in the presence of native LDL, oxLDL, and IL-6; and 3) assessment of changes in the metastatic potential of cancer cells following treatment with focused ultrasound (FUS) and ethanol. Vivien successfully defended her PhD dissertation in July 2020.
