Dr. Chong (Carol) Chen
Dr. Chong (Carol) Chen received her BSc in Biomedical Engineering at Capital University of Medical Science, Beijing, China. In 2004, she received her MSc in Clinical Engineering from the University of Liverpool, UK. She enrolled in the Medical Physics graduate program and worked as a research assistant at East Carolina University, NC, in 2006. In 2009, she joined the Biomedical Engineering Department at Tulane University to work on her doctoral degree. Her PhD research focused on the interactions of human monocytes, macrophages, and tumor cells with vascular endothelium. The other topic of her study was cavitation effects on tumor ablation with Focused Ultrasound (FUS) and ethanol. She successfully defended her PhD dissertation in June 2013.
