Mission

About Us

Broadly, we are interested in how plants, animals and microbes become involved in symbioses with other organisms to feed themselves and defend themselves from enemies/stressors. We are involved in projects in Ecuador, Panama and in the southeastern US that include microbial ecology, chemical ecology, biodiversity conservation, coastal restoration and agroecology.

Approach

Our Research Approach

Methodology

We collect plant tissues from the field in natural or restored sites.

Lab Protocol

We use high throughput sequencing, culturing and inoculations to understand the role of symbionts.

Training

We involve undergraduates (and sometimes high school students) in our research efforts.

Education and outreach

In Louisiana and Ecuador we are involved in community-driven research approaches.
