Aaron Leininger
Assistant Professor
Aaron Leininger is an assistant professor in the department of River-Coastal Science and Engineering at Tulane University since August 2026.
Before Tulane, he was a postdoc at EPFL and Eawag in Switzerland, working in the laboratories of Wenyu Gu and OIga Schubert and Martin Ackermann.
He earned his PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Princeton and previously conducted pilot and field research in water treatment at DC Water's Blue Plains facility. His research combines microbial physiology, ecology, and electrochemistry to understand and control microbial behavior in water treatment processes, biorefineries, and, most recently, the Mississippi River Delta.
