Dr. Yo Jackson, Ph.D., ABPP
Yo Jackson, PhD, ABPP, is a board-certified clinical child psychologist, professor of psychology, and nationally recognized scholar whose work examines how children and families adapt in the face of trauma, adversity, and chronic stress.
Her career has been shaped by a question first encountered in clinical practice: why do some children struggle after trauma while others recover and demonstrate remarkable resilience? That question has guided a distinguished body of scholarship focused on resilience, child maltreatment, intergenerational trauma, and pathways to healthy development.
Dr. Jackson’s work has been supported by multiple National Institutes of Health grants, including R01, T32, and center-level funding. She has served on NIH study sections, held editorial leadership roles including Associate Editor of American Psychologist, and led national training and multidisciplinary research initiatives designed to translate evidence into practice and policy.
She has also contributed to public service through congressional testimony and policy work related to child welfare and child well-being.
At Tulane University, Dr. Jackson continues this work through research excellence, student mentorship, and community partnership aimed at helping children, families, and communities thrive.
